Zünd Knife Cutter

The Zund cnc knife cutter is used for wide flatbed cutting of stock that range from cardboard and foam, to leather or textiles. The Zund cnc knife cutting system permits a high degree of precision and efficiency through the use of its vacuum bed hold down and multi blade tool exchanger. Training Session Sign-Up If

Laser Cutters

The College operates five laser cutter systems. Two LaserCAMM systems are located in the A+AB woodshop and three VLS 6.60 laser systems are located in the west computer lounge, on the 3rd floor. Laser cutters are only available to Taubman College students who have undergone training. Reserve Laser cutter Dimensional Limitations The VLS laser systems

CNC Mill

The FABLab has two vertical metal mills for fabricating precision parts. They are mostly used to manufacture tools and parts for the robots, which allow fabrication of high quality custom tooling prototypes. Procedure The mills are programmed with MasterCAM software or manually operated for simple applications. Materials The most common materials machined on the mills

CNC Waterjet

The 3-axis Water Jet cutting system is designed for cutting 2-dimensional profiles or shapes out of flat sheet materials, ranging from sheet metal to metal plate and plastics. For a description of the abrasive water jet process, go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_jet_cutter. It is important to note that in all but a few cases, water jet systems

CNC Router

Our CNC routers have a functional bed size of 4 feet by 8 feet. Height limitations are more complicated and may vary depending upon project dimensions, tool choice, and toolpath design. The combined height of the material and cutting tool cannot exceed 8.75 inches [see diagram A]. If your material is too tall, the cutting

CNC Knitting Machine

In comparison to weaving, weft-knitting machines construct textiles by interconnecting loops of yarn in a horizontal fashion. The machine gauge indicates a layout of 14 needles per inch, giving the ability to produce textiles at a very fine level of resolution. The v-bed layout of two parallel needle beds enables the knitting of multiple interconnected
