Dual Degrees

Dual degree opportunities are available to both undergraduate and graduate students within Taubman College.

Undergraduate Students

Undergraduate students interested in a dual degree must apply to and be admitted to both programs. Students pursuing a dual degree will be required to complete a minimum of 150 credit hours and can expect their time to degree to be at least five academic years. All requirements for both degrees must be completed before you can graduate. If any requirement for either degree is lacking, neither degree will be awarded.

A student seeking a dual degree must complete the Undergraduate Dual Degree Approval Form (even if you have already been admitted to both programs). This solidifies your degree plan and allows you to select which program will be your “Home” unit. Either program is fine, although most of our duals do select Taubman College. While completing the form, you should submit it to your non-home unit first for signature. Then it can be submitted to your home unit for final signatures and processing.

It is important that you meet with advisors from both programs throughout your studies to ensure you are making progress in both degrees.

Graduate Students

Graduate students interested in a dual degree must apply to and be admitted to both programs. The exact number of credits and sequencing of courses will depend on the specific degree programs involved.

Students should see an Academic Advisor in both schools to discuss an appropriate plan of study for a dual degree. It is the responsibility of the student to seek out and follow the academic policies and procedures of each school.

Students pursuing the 3-year Master of Architecture degree are not eligible to apply to nor enroll in a dual degree program until the start of the second year of the M.Arch program. Students pursuing the Master of Architecture with Advanced Standing may apply for a dual degree program at the time of their initial M.Arch application or after.
